Well, I agree. But the pundits are saying (and I am objecting to) is that UNLV team would "annihilate" or "wipe the floor" with this UConn team. That is ridiculous. My post gives a data point. The data point is that the UNLV team of college age Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon, Et all. lost, by 7...
Bilas is correct. This level of dominance is on the level of UCLA. IMO.
As for the Undisputed segment, the (35-5) UNLV team they are gushing over, lost to an un-ranked UCSB team with the following top 5 players:
Player
Class
Pos
Height
Summary
Carrick DeHart

6-4
15.9 Pts, 3.6 Reb, 3.9...
Refs are "almost" always bad. Win or lose. What makes it palatable is 1) your team wins 2) consistency.
Also, in conference officiating (all conferences really) is, for whatever reason, much worse.
The other issue with fronting is that, DC will be out of position for any rebound. Giving up OR to a 7'4" is not a good. Over the back fouls are also a possibility. The more I think about it the less I like this strategy.
In football you have the line judge, back judge etc. Another thing that can be tried, is to have one official dedicated (but not limited) to "the problem". Contact and physicality. Off ball grabbing and holding etc. No doubt every proposed "solution" will have it's drawbacks, but that is true of...
As I watch a replay of this game and what Samson Johnson did last night, I am convincing myself that he is more than an adequate 5 for the future. We have won championships with much weaker 5's. A more experienced and confident SJ will surprise all of us. His game will need to expand, but what...
After they successfully challenged Clingan, and the outside shot was harder to make, they started to go inside again. They thought they could continue to go inside. Not smart.
Not really, about the mojo. They are still pretty good especially considering the bad fortune of the injuries they have had. It is unrealistic to think that kind of dominance is automatic. More importantly, UConn dominating was not good for the sport, as many fans tuned out. Everyone must eat...
Clark offensive foul on a push off on KKA was not called, but the screen was?
UConn was the much better team, even with 6 deep and 3 freshmen. Congrats to them on a great season.
Felt in Norwalk. Whole house shook. Chandelier etc. Nothing fell off shelves however. Significant for this area.
NJ centered. I guess Seton Hall winning the NIT was earthshaking, LOL.
Good post, although I would add to "unexpected" and "much appreciated". Critical. We do not win without them. IMO.
PS. I know we all look at points and offense when we acknowledge their contributions, but their defense and hustle were just as important.
The problem with this strategy is that "taking it to" implies initiating the contact. Now, I am not an expert, but I have been told that refs will not blow the whistle if the offensive players are the ones initiating the contact, as long as the defensive players are in a proper defensive stance...
The agenda is to popularize the game. Make it more interesting to a broader audience. This requires games to have drama. This requires the game to have competitive parity. This requires physicality be rewarded as it can neutralize the quality of play of one team over the other. This requires...
Respectfully disagree.
If repeating fact (poor officiating) is whining, then you do not want change. Think of the whiners in the year 1776.
BTW, whining shows that the problem is 1) prevalent 2) non-UConn specific (Google last nights Iowa-WV game) 3) has not been addressed.
BTW, UConn has...
