1. Nika to get 10+ assists and at least 1q0 points
2. Ashlynn and KK to go off for big scoring game
3. Get a big lead early so bench players get some playing time
Sveta came to UConn as a 17 year old speaking very little English and in 4 years was one of the best players in all of Division I WBB!
And yes UConn would have won a National Title if she and Shea were healthy!
IMHO that UConn team was the 1st or 2nd best WBB team of all time!
hoophuskee- - -Instead of attacking NEforceUConn, how about discussing it civil-like and get your point across without the venom!
Over the years since 1991 when I first caught the UConn WBB bug I've been on many, many UConn WBB fan sites such as ESPN (that folded) and the nastiness was beyond...
PacoSwede- - -Geno has pulled Paige from the game to explain to her she needs to shoot more then puts her back in at the next available time!
I think he could have done that with Nika after her 3rd foul and avoided the straight arm for the 5th foul!
hoophuskee- - - My thinking is if Geno didn't think Ines had potential why offer and give her a scholarship in the 1st place!
So if he saw potential do anything he can to get her to realize her potential instead of giving up on her!
hoophuskee- - -Ines if used more often DURING the season may have shown the same improvement level others have shown!
With more trust I think Ines could have become a player of worth instead of how she WAS used! That's all I'm saying!
msf22b-I wrote my post before having a chance to read yours!
We are thinking along the same lines!
Your post was one of the best I've read this season!
We're brothers of different mothers!
As stated above IMHO it is not a inept question to ask considering how the 4th quarter was going why weren't other moves made!
The posters were simply asking why nothing was done when Nika (who I love!) went "brain dead" in the 4th quarter and Ice was having obvious problems herself!
Sometimes...
HuskyNan- To me the question should be with Ines showing improvement in the summer and how she improved as the season went last year why she wasn't used more during the WHOLE season then he could have used her in the Big East and NCAA's!
I can't picture Ines being so lackluster at ALL practices...
1. At least 5 players in double figures
2. Nika get 10+ assists and a couple of 3's
3. Freshmen play steady BB
Turn up the Big East Tournament style defense!
MSGRET- - -RIGHT-ON!
The main problem with WBB refs is they are graded by conference referee supervisors that 95+% of the time are retired refs from that conference who worked with their present refs and won't knock their friends!
They need outside men/women that have NO ties to the present...
I don't know if anyone else had trouble hearing the press conference?
Even with my headphones on I couldn't make out what anyone was saying!
So annoying to catch 1 word here or there!
1. Play defense as they've played the last 3 games!
2. 6 players in double figures scoring!
3. Nika have 10+ assists and gets the record out of the way!
No injuries is always a definite!
Bone Dog- - -Caitlin Clark as Player of the Year was decided back in September!
At least according to the Talking Suits!
You listen to the media and 99.9% made up their minds that CC invented WBB!
CC IS a great player, no doubt, but that's why you play the season so you can see what EVERYONE can...
Didn't Geno say a while back that there was a surprise coming in the recruitment process?
If so maybe it's Sarah Strong!
Teenage girls are fickle so maybe Sarah wants to wait to the last minute!
It's like picking a date for the prom, play it coy and chose from your offers!
Does Sarah want to...
DRR25- - - The Pac-12 is one of the stronger conferences in WBB Division I!
USC
UCLA
Utah
Colorado
Oregon State
Stanford
Arizona
All ranked in the top 25 in both AP and Coaches polls!
And the shame is all but Oregon State are out of the Pac 12 next year!
Sarah's parents are well qualified having extensive BB backgrounds and have seen UConn with all it's benefits reach unbelievable achievements!
When you weigh all the facts the #1 player in this class would also soar at UConn!
Longtime fan- - -Sarah is NOT a post player!
She at 6'2" is a wing or small forward!
She'd be with Caroline, Aubrey, Paige, and maybe Azzi!
She answered a ? awhile back when asked about being a post player at 6'2" that she is not a post player!
Of course with Geno having position less players...
IMHO Aaliyah as Nika did will declare for the WNBA!
She is ready to move on!
With Nika and Aaliyah gone that leaves 12 on the roster.
With Morgan and Allie that's back to 14!
With Sarah that would make 15, the limit!
I'd sure love to add Chen somehow!
Creative bookkeeping?
olddude- - - I think Georgetown AD Lee Reed used the wrong words to tell of the hiring! In discussion.......
I take it to mean "we hired Darnell Haney as HC but are negotiating his salary and length of term!"
As I'm in the middle of my 76 year and dealing with major health issues the last 11 years I have found I'm more an emotional person than years ago! I spent a lot of the last 2 games in tears, so proud of being a UConn WBB fan in awe of our players!
As I've mentioned previously, I coached HS...
After watching the last 2 Big East games for UConn vs Marquette and Georgetown, this scene from the movie Tora, Tora, Tora (about Pearl Harbor) made me giddy thinking of UConn's upcoming NCAA Tournament opponents!
RockyMTblue2- - IMHO UConn has to play exactly like they did yesterday zoned in from the start and their normal aggression!
You dance with who brung ya!
hoophuskie- - IMHO I don't think Marquette CAME OUT flat but early on realized that UConn was in a zone and there was no reckoning with them today! These CT girls reached deep inside for their 2002 UConn Huskies impression!
I posted this on the BADASS thread but it also applies here:
IMHO the whole 7 eligible players deserve a piece of the BAD ASS Award!
One of the 10 best players in Division I WBB is out and they played with such tenacity, giant hearts to play possibly the greatest defensive game in the history...
