    Latest Tournament Odds

Duke is a steal with those betting lines. I could see them knocking off UCONN/USC more easily than I could see Gonzaga taking out Texas/Stanford. Same with Colorado who definitely could beat Iowa and has already blown out LSU this year.

    tOSU

I think their high ranking early in the year was a product of a favorable Big Ten schedule while everyone else in the country was beating each other up. Until the end of the regular season (which they handily lost at Iowa) they hadn't faced Iowa, Indiana or Nebraska on the road. They upset Iowa...

Singular focus on Caitlin Clark brings risk, reward

I agree it does feel excessive, but at the same time, majority of viewers are new fans who are tuning in specifically to see Caitlin, and ESPN is giving them what they want. They're more likely to watch the next CC game too. The result of this is there are a LOT more fans tuning in to women's...

    WNBA 2024 season

That's why I indicated "Poor Man's" to signify I don't think she's at their level, but she has elements of both in her skill set. She's going to be very good but I don't see her turning to a multiple time MVP in the pros. Similar to Jackson being compared to Swoopes--similar type of players...

    Caitlin Clark Scoring Record Watch

A few other potential milestones she could accomplish over her last 4 games: -1000 career rebounds. She's currently at 960, meaning she'd need to average 10 per game if Iowa makes it to the championship game again, or 13 per game if she makes it to the semis. -4000 career points. She's...

    WNBA 2024 season

I made a summary of what I think the draft board might look like for round 1 and put in WNBA player comparisons: WNBA Mock Draft with Comparisons: 1. Caitlin Clark, Indiana-Diana Taurasi. Unlimited range, great passer. Relies more on quickness where DT relies more on strength. Both play...

    Round 2

Iowa and UCLA both struggling in the first half. Imagine if the bracket of death winds up being a cake walk for LSU into another Final Four lol.

    Let the Carousel begin!

My guess is they'd go hard after Lawson which is a gamble if she isn't willing to come. Walz isn't a good fit nor do I see him leaving Louisville. I'm still unsure why no one has tried to poach Lisa Fortier from Gonzaga but I don't see Tennessee settling on anyone who isn't coming from a P5.

    Let the Carousel begin!

I'm sure he doesn't want to leave but how long will the AD be okay with a mediocre program that consistently underachieves? Arkansas is headed in a bad direction under him and the SEC is going to be a blood bath the next several years with the quality of players and coaches in the conference.

Playful jab, totally fair game IMO

Anyone watching the battle of the Carolinas?

For as good as SC was today, they haven’t played at this level on the road or in neutral courts all year excluding the ND season opener. If they play like this today they aren’t losing to anyone though, even if Clark has a magical night.

    Round 2

She’s a freshman going up against 2 of the best posts in the country, she’ll develop her game and improve. I love Crooks but don’t think she projects to be a good WNBA prospect even if she’s a dominant collegiate player. Making it in the WNBA has as much to do with length and athleticism as it...

    Round 2

Thoughts on the day from games I was able to catch Duke beats Ohio State Really gritty and impressive win by Duke. They couldn't get anything going early but dug their heels in and played hard and completely outplayed Ohio State after the first quarter. Reagan Richardson was unbelievable, so...

    recruiting insights

Notre Dame would likely look very different if she went there. It’s all a fever dream, but I wouldnt be shocked if Muffett coaches a few more years if she landed Clark. The flip side is they likely miss out on Miles and Ivey is probably head coach at another program.

Players Entering Transfer Portal, As of March 2024

Not defending it, but the poster makes it sound like she's a more important player than she is. She's barely played this season (96 total minutes, 29 points scored this year) https://fairfieldstags.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/kate-peek/6302

    Teams last hurrah

Teams that likely drop off in a big way next year: Iowa-they lose Clark, Davis, Marshall and Martin. Bluder's a good coach but I don't think anyone will be shocked if they aren't a top 25 team next season. Stanford-they lose Brink and Hannah Jump. They likely aren't a Final Four contender...

    AP Awards

Washington in 2017 had Plum on 1st team, Osahor on 2nd and they were a 3 seed. Plum had a record breaking season, Osahor was incredibly good that year too. Washington was heavily reliant on those 2 though, as they only had 2 double digit scorers that season Regardless though, you're 100%...

    More injuries in WBB (merged)

To be honest, I don't blame Virginia Tech. NCAA seeding should be based on what your team has earned, not about how the committee thinks they'll perform in the tournament with or without certain players. The committee's job is to evaluate each team based on the season they've had and Kitley...

    Which #1 will lose first?

Iowa has brutal Sweet 16/Elite 8 matchups, I don't think they match up particularly well with Colorado and KState is a crapshoot meeting them for the 3rd time. They're my pick to lose 1st, though it's never smart to bet against Caitlin Clark. South Carolina has the toughest second round game...
  22. bballnut90

    Which #2 is out first?

I could see all of these squads losing in the Sweet 16. I don't love the matchups for any of them: NC State has fast guards that could give Stanford trouble, plus a couple of big posts that should make life difficult for Brink/Iriafen. UCLA likely faces LSU in the Sweet 16 and they're...

    Let the Carousel begin!

Have to imagine Mike Neighbors seat is heating up at Arkansas. They underachieved when they had Dungee and Co, they missed the tournament back to back years and have 2 of their top players now transferring. He'll probably get another year or 2 but they're trending in the wrong direction after a...

    The Bracket

Most intriguing potential matchups IMO: 1st Round: Iowa State-Maryland. Maryland ended their season in a big way by blowing out Ohio State. Iowa State similarly torched Oklahoma in the Big 12 semifinals. Both have Cinderella potential and some really talented players. 2nd Round: South...

Players Entering Transfer Portal, As of March 2024

Taliah Scott is a big name entering the portal. Her name tailed off over the season as other freshmen stepped up, but she averaged 22 ppg at Arkansas which is pretty darn good. Efficiency/shot selection will need to be improved but she's a big pick up for whoever lands her.

Players Entering Transfer Portal, As of March 2024

Agreed. She’s a great athlete but was in a tough spot to see meaningfully minutes with how loaded SC is at PF, and with Edwards coming next year. She’ll be a great pickup for another program though in need of some athleticism.
  28. bballnut90

    The Bracket

For SC, Notre Dame is red hot, though I don’t think they match up well with SC, particularly without Watson. Oregon State could provide a challenge as a 3, but I’m not fully sold. I don’t love facing UNC in the second round if I’m SC. Oklahoma/Indiana aren’t threatening though for Sweet 16...

    Who will Sarah Strong pick?

Oregon pre-Sabrina averaged 1629 fans and just 2,600 fans her freshman year, but by her senior year they averaged 10k+. Juju Watkins chose USC who averaged 1000 fans a game last year and within a year the attendance went up almost 4x and increased steadily throughout the season. Numbers will...

Stewie weighs in with her Final Four picks

I think the general consensus is that Iowa/SC will be 1 seeds in Albany, and UCONN will go there as well, so only 2 of those 3 can make it through. I think the biggest sleeper team is Texas. They have size, defend well, and have an elite scorer/playmaker in Booker and seem to be playing their...

    Non-UConn recruiting thread

Potentially, yes. That's a really solid starting 5 and knowing Kim she'll pick up some portal talent too. South Carolina, Texas, Notre Dame, UCONN, USC, Oregon State and UCLA are the other squads that have a ton of talent coming back. Only SC seems like a safe bet at preseason #1, after that...
