Watching Tennessee and Oregon State is like watching a PAC12 game...

I am so relieved TN lost. TN fans have been boasting that the Lady Vols were going to beat UCONN in the NCAA champ game. I am so relieved.

    Days Later It Still Rankles

Whenever UCONN builds up a significant early lead against a good opponent, I start keeping track of how many points per minute are needed to overcome the lead. It's a feel good exercise, because big leads (with the exception of Notre Dame's devastating beat down of Tennessee) are not often...

Not really. The LVs are just so use to their own home cooking after so many home games in a row to start the season.

What's the BS about limiting cameras???

About 5 years ago at Gampel, I attempted to enter with an old 3 MP digital camera. It met the requirements for lens size and un-removable lens. I was refused entry, and asked to speak with s supervisor about it. The supervisor basked his underling, and behaved very officiously refused to admit...

    Texas at Tennessee (merged thread)

It's amazing that nothing productive came out of the time outs for either team. I think both coaches deserve the unproductive time out award. Shall we call it the Tandem Bicycle award?

Hump Day (11/6) games: Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tennessee

The problem with the post game coverage of this game is the total homerism by the press corps. I believe Holly writes the questions to be asked. You saw her angry reaction when a question was misinterpreted as a criticism. The reporter fell all over himself to turn it into Vol praise. It's easy...

    Toughness prevails

Migraines can be one of the most debilitating of maladies. Playing basketball during a migraine is one of the last things a person would be capable of doing. All the sufferer wants to do is lie in a dark, quiet room. Just the thought of sitting up would be excruciating. The fact that Gabby was...

The Gabby rebound that inspired all the Oohs from the crowd was spectacular. Not only for the height of the jump, but for the classic form, perfect timing and the overall Greek Goddess like look.

Tennessee leads Wichita State at the half ... by 1 point

The disappointment for Tenn in this game is that 4 of the 5 starters had to play 40 (Mins Nared), 39, 36, 36 mins. to pull out the game. Russell wasn't even able to get a double double in her 36 minutes, her goal for each game is a Double D. Luckily they were facing a 0-3 team. It's odd how...

Substitution Pattern Against Maryland -- What Can We Infer?

With Lou out, this was a great, productive game for the Huskies. It gave the bench, mainly Stevens and Megan, guaranteed extended time. It both created pressure to perform, yet reduced it, knowing they would probably not be pulled at the slightest error. It also gave the remainder of the bench...

She's even smarter (and funnier) than you thought

Meeting Rebecca in 2004, I greeted her in a joking manner, "How's the weather up there?" She pleasantly replied, "When asked that question, my usual reply is to spit on their heads, and say, It's raining."

    Coaching wins

Another factor in the race to beat Pat Summitt's win record is the number of seasons the contenders have coached. Geno has six more years to equal Pat's longevity. Number of wins is partially a factor of longevity, and Geno has a minimum of six more years to even the playing field in that...

OT: More Significant Layoffs Are Coming to ESPN

The second game of that double header was Ohio State vs Lousiville. It was an exciting. close game, I believe was called by the same ESPN crew. He stuck to calling the game much more closely than the UCONN game. Probably because ESPN feels they need to entertain the fans during blowouts.

First game thread of the season: UConn v. Stanford

ETSU had their point guard and best player out with a broken nose. Further, they couldn't make a layup or an open shot. Plus they were way over matched in height. No doubt TN is better than last year, but how much better can't be determined by the two cream puffs the have played so far. Their...

Absolutely the worst call of a game I have heard since the Picozzi days

You people just don't understand. ESPN combined the video of the game plus crowd noise, overlaid with a podcast of announcer chit-chat. Thanks to ESPN cut-backs, we fans had the privilege of multitasking by hearing two programs simultaneously. What a time saver. :(

    ESPN forgot Pat Summitt

I don't understand the significance of the category, "# of wins at one school." A win is a win. Why does it matter if accomplished at one school or more than one? It's not a school record, it's a personal one. I say count them all.

    Highlights v. Fort Hays State

And you can't teach liking your team. From what Z said when questioned about coming off the bench. She loves the the UCONN program, and the players. The Scariest Movie Ever Made

Not sure about the scariest movie in total, but the scariest scene was, to me, in Alien, where the beast came bursting out of the crew members stomach. However, I was not a pre-teen at the time it came out, so the impact was not as great. The one that really got me was a 1950s film, (Not...

    OT: Fats has Died

As a young teenager in the 50s, our circle of friends were all into early R&B. Fats was one of our mainstays. We would go apoplectic when the likes of Pat Boone would try to steal Domino's thunder (and money) by recording songs like Ain't That a Shame. We thought Fats would be dead by the age...

OMG: (non-UConn) 2 ACL tears in 5 minutes

From what I've read, specific exercises to strengthen the muscles associated with leg joints can do much to reduce injury. But women's leg structure hip to knee is like a "V" whereas men's legs are more vertical thereby reducing stress on men's knee joints compared with women's. I wonder if some...
