    OT: Best Pizza in CT

They're in West Haven not East Haven, but do agree they're better now than Modern or Sally's. All three are great and a cut above the rest, but Zupp's pies just taste better to me. They're the only ones around that still make their own sausage and their white clam pie is definitely the best.

    Rest in Peace Tom Seaver

He was awesome, one of my favorite pitchers too. "Blind men come to the park just to hear him pitch"

    B1G To Start October 10?

Tough break for the kid. He's taking a real chance if he tries to come back from it and play college football again, but good luck to him.

    B1G To Start October 10?

Lol.......testing someone for myocarditis is like testing someone for a gunshot wound, and anyone with myocarditis can be one step away from congestive heart failure and should be in the ICU. Even walking up the stairs is out of the question, much less playing college football. Lots of things...

Finally pulled the trigger and bought 7 frozen Zuppardis pies (sausage) at Caraluzzi's in Bethel. Awesome quality for a frozen pizza.

    Can we Start Football too?

Basketball at Alabama won't benefit if 1200 students have tested positive. Yet shakey, cohen, and God knows who else haven't said boo about shutting down UConn basketball.

    Can we Start Football too?

I thought given that they have 38,000 and change undergrads, that post grads, employees, and Tuscaloosa natives driving through campus would amount to 175,000 give or take. Why don't you just post any legitimate news sources you found in 30 seconds.

    Can we Start Football too?

Out of 175,000 people total. The undergrad population, graduate population, support services, citizens of Tuscaloosa, etc.

The players would play, they want to. Benedict could put together home & home games with Umass and Army for starters. A vaccine is coming around January anyway.

    OT: Best Pizza in CT

Although Sal's sons, Robert and Richard Consiglio, sold Sally's in 2017, they still run the place for the new owners. As a side note, Filomena Consiglio bought the building that houses Sally's for $500 in 1938, and her son Sal ran the place until his death in 1989. Filomena Consiglio's maiden...

Has Anyone Ever Sat Behind the Bench at a UConn BB Game?

Never sat behind the bench at a men's game but sat behind the bench at the women's games several times during the very late 90's and early 2000's. My girlfriend and I both sat next to Lew Perkins right behind the bench a couple of times, and saw and heard some things on the bench that raised our...

How is Consiglio's related to Sal Consiglio who opened Sally's in 1938. Same family or a different branch? I'm glad that the new owners of Sally's still make great pizza there.

State health officials suggest 7-on-7 high school football

With all due respect Chief, I'm saying this from experience, I played football, and the 300lb linemen (though strong in the weight room and the classroom) were always last and gassed after jogging 3 laps around the track in full pads. The average lifespan of career NFL players is 53 to 59, and...

    OT: Best Pizza in CT

Times have really changed. At one time, 35 or 40 years ago "the Spot" had the best pie in the state. Even slightly better than the big Pepe's right next door. Pepe's has fallen off a cliff since they opened more restaurants. Last Saturday my wife and I were not happy with the pizza we had at...

Caraluzzi's Market in Newtown, Bethel or Wilton sells frozen Zuppardis Pies. Derby Shop Rite sells them too, I think.

    OT: Best Pizza in CT

I'd go......... 1) Zupp's - sausage and mushroom or wc 2) Modern - Italian Bomb 3) Sally's - Tomato Pie 4) Pepe's - wc - a distant 4th My wife and I were disappointed the other night at Pepe's in Danbury, place seems to have definitely dropped in quality.

That's an excellent point about overweight linemen. A lot of people have overlooked that.

Did you ever meet a celebrity that acted like a jerk?

Nice story, he wasn't a bad guy, very smart too. I'm sure he appreciated the drink. Both him and Mike Wallace were regulars at Tommy's. Roger Grimsby and Tex Antoine use to pop in on occasion also.

OT: College in the COVID era

Glantz is a renowned researcher, but ok, maybe he is dangerous because he says smoking is bad for you. What brand do you smoke? BTW, your check from RJ Reynolds is in the mail box. Here's an early study from last March...

OT: College in the COVID era

All they do is talk about the ratio of smokers to non smokers who test positive or negative. What no one says in those articles is what is the ratio of non smokers to smokers, either current or former, who actually died from the disease. That's what we focused on, not the testing. Our data...

OT: College in the COVID era

Our study and some observational studies in tandem with some local Hospitals came to a figure of about 75%, however I am aware of some studies that arrived at just under 50%. https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2020/05/417411/smoking-nearly-doubles-rate-covid-19-progression

OT: College in the COVID era

I have kept in touch with my colleagues since retirement, and can say that 75% of those with permanent damage were current or former smokers. What is damning IMO is not calling smoking a pre existing condition when collating the data, and don't believe BS articles on the web saying smoking is...

OT: College in the COVID era

You have a lot to learn. This was not a rant, I was trying to educate you. I have done research on viruses but retired last year, a lot of my work was in labs and clean rooms, lots of sem and tem study, prep, etc. As for severity of viruses in adults and the elderly vs pre pubescent children...

OT: College in the COVID era

No you're wrong, it does stop you from getting the virus as long as your acquired immunity lasts. Once immunity weakens is when you get individuals who can transmit the virus but still have no symptoms or very mild symptoms. The very definition of immunity is when your immune system fights off...

    Big Ten, parents, players, revolt.

Well actually you are talking apples and oranges when you say that medicine has advanced dramatically in the 100 years since 1918, which of course is true but only in certain areas. You try to apply that to your argument on 1918 vs 2020 with respect to antiviral therapy. Antiviral drugs are in...

I haven't heard anything about HS football in CT, anyone hear anything? Some football helmet manufacturers are selling helmets with built in masks. I wonder if the AAC has purchased some?
