Weekly Recruiting Update, 7/15/13

Class of 2014:
Jared Terrell (SG): He listed offers from UConn, Kansas, Florida, Marquette, Miami, and Providence. He then said that he will unofficially visit the local schools and then decide on official visits. Per ESPN. With that being said it’s not sure how hard, or even if, he is being recruited by UConn.
Devin Robinson (SF): He said that he will cut his list down to an undetermined number of schools sometime in August. Per Rivals. Later in the week he listed UConn, Indiana, Oklahoma State, Providence, Virginia Tech, VCU, Notre Dame, Florida State, Florida and Louisville as the main schools recruiting him. Then, he said this, “I probably want to visit UConn and maybe Indiana,” said Robinson. And about UConn, “I like UConn’s program. I like Coach Ollie. He’s a great coach. I think I fit their style of play. Per 247Sports.
Kameron Chatman (SF): It was said that UConn, Michigan, Oregon, and Arizona are likely to receive official visits. Per ESPN.
Khadeen Carrington (SG): He said he feels like Cincinnati and St. John’s want him the most. Per ESPN. This basically means that they are recruiting him the hardest at this point.
Jordan McLaughlin (PG): He said he’s been hearing the most from UCLA, USC, San Diego State and Gonzaga. Per Scott Sommer. This is nothing new. If we were to miss on Perkins he may become the top point guard recruit.
Leron Black (PF): This past week his full list included UConn, Illinois, Indiana, Baylor, Florida, Tennessee, Memphis, Arizona, Louisville, and Ohio State. Right now he is only saying that he plans on unofficially visiting Florida, his perceived leader. However, I was told that he is seriously considering UConn and that his mom loves Ollie.
Goodluck Okonoboh (C): He listed UConn, Indiana, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Gonzaga, and Florida among his offers. It’s a good sign that we were listed here because it means UConn and these other schools are at the top of his head. He then went on and said that Indiana is not his favorite. He also said him and Oriakhi are not close so it may not be a deterrent from UConn. Per 247Sports.
Josh Perkins (PG): Him and his dad have been adamant about saying he will officially visit UConn. Josh said it will happen in early August but after August 7th. This is what Josh said about UConn, “East Coast basketball is a little different but UConn’s a great program and we’re going to see what they have to offer.” Per Adam Zagoria.
Kelly Oubre (SF): He said this about UConn, “Coach Ollie’s a great guy. He thrives in the guard offense. He likes to develop lot of guards in the past so I could see myself excelling in that offense also.” He said he will cut his list to either 5 or 6 after Peach Jam. Per Adam Zagoria. UConn will most likely make the cut and receive a visit from him as it stands now. He has a visit to Kansas lined up for Oct. 4, so they are making his cut. Per Steve Jones.
Namon Wright (SG): He is a new name that popped up this week. His recruitment could be filling the place of Brandone Fancis’. He said UCLA, Oregon, USC, Gonzaga, and Arizona are standing out the most to him right now but UConn is quickly gaining ground on the other schools. He also said he plans on visiting UConn in the fall which could very week be an official visit due to him living so far away.
Paul White (PF): It looks like UConn is no longer recruiting him. No shock at all as nobody heard anything about him and UConn in a while. He listed Georgetown, Arizona, Marquette, Florida, Memphis, and Minnesota as the schools recruiting him the hardest. Per Rivals.
Abdul Malik-Abu (PF): He said UConn, St. John’s, Providence, Florida, N.C. State, Kansas State, and Louisville are recruiting him hard. He went in to say this about UConn, “I like Connecticut, it’s in my back yard,” he said. “It’s the team I grew up watching.” Per Adam Zagoria.
Terry Larrier (SF): After being watched by Ollie earlier in the day he was given an offer from UConn. Per Rivals.

Class of 2015:
