Huskies Hope to Party as They Open Conference Play

The Huskies return to action this afternoon on New Years Eve to open up conference play for the second year in the American against the Temple Owls (9-4, 0-0 AAC). Winners of three straight, including a surprising 77-52 destruction of No. 10 Kansas on the 22nd, the Owls are looking to avenge last season’s 68-55 loss to UConn (6-4, 0-0) at the XL Center.

Guard Jesse Morgan will pace Temple’s offense, averaging sixteen (16) points per game in 2014.

This is a crucial game for the Huskies, as they are coming in after a less-than-stellar out-of-conference performance to begin the ’14-15 campaign. With no games scheduled against ranked teams the rest of the way, UConn needs to excel in the AAC, or risk having to win the conference tournament to advance to the NCAA’s.

I’ll have full-coverage from today’s game on twitter, as well as post-game interviews, following the contest at the XL.
